Industry veteran Bob Schreck has just joined the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund as deputy director.

Last seen at Legendary Comics, in his new position Schreck will oversee the CBLDF’s fundraising and marketing activities, including membership, conventions and events.

“I have been a proud and devoted supporter of CBLDF for many years,” Schreck said in a statement. “Its mission and contribution to the health and betterment of our precious medium has been invaluable. The Fund’s stalwart efforts and incredible results during the course of my career have been a wonder to watch. I am very excited to join the CBLDF team and to make further strides toward protecting our industry’s essential rights.”

CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein was also heartened by the hire. “Bob’s dedication to the comics field has made it more diverse, creative, and successful. We’re elated that he’s bringing his experience to the service of CBLDF’s important mission.”

Schreck’s past endeavors include many stints as a groundbreaking editor at companies including Comico, Dark Horse, DC, and IDW. He’s also the co-founder of Oni Press and ran Legendary’s comics arm from 2010 until 2017

He replaces Alex Cox, who is moving to a yet unannounced industry position. Cox launched many projects at the fund including their newsletter and the upcoming Selling Comicsa handbook for comic book retailers. Brownstein notes, “Alex changed CBLDF for the better and we look forward to seeing him continue to make positive changes for the industry in his future endeavors.”

Schreck will also be at this weekend’s Small Press Expo so you can ask him all about his new position  and the fund there!
