Are You Afraid of the DarkThe Canadian produced original Are You Afraid of the Dark? created by DJ MacHale and Ned Kandel debuted in 1990 and aired on Nickelodeon from 1992 to 1996 with a revival in 1999. The innovative genre show offered a horror experience that was not only directed at younger audiences, but was also told from their perspective.
This new incarnation is said to “coincide with the upcoming Are You Afraid of the Dark? theatrical movie from Paramount Pictures, Paramount Players’, and Nickelodeon Movies, in theaters October 2019.” The movie’s release date, however, is currently up in the air. Originally set for October 4, it was bumped to October 11, and now is expected to release later as some behind-the-scenes adjustments are made.
