Archie Comics announced on Wednesday that, for 24 hours, it will be donating 100% of its webstore profits to the Equal Justice Initiative, where proceeds will be used to bring an end to mass incarceration, excessive punishment, and racial inequality. Along with that, the publisher is also offering 50% off entire orders with the promo code: JUSTICE.

The announcement arrives in the wake of protests across the nation calling for justice in the police killing of George Floyd, as well as for law enforcement reform. Although Archie Comics did retweet Warner Bros. statement on solidarity with the Black community, the publisher has not yet made one of its own. Co-president Alex Segura also went on Twitter to amplify and collect portfolios from Black writers and artists working in comics.

That said, the organization Archie Comics is supporting, the Equal Justice Initiative, has made a statement. It begins like this, and you can read the full article here.

“Another unarmed Black man was killed by reckless and unnecessary use of excessive force this week. The plague of lethal police violence against Black people continues to traumatize communities of color in America, adding urgency to the need for reform.”

To participate in the sale, head to the Archie Comics store here. You can also donate directly to organizations supporting Black Lives Matter on the organization’s Carrd, and through our own compilation.
