The American Library Association has presented its annual Youth Media award winners, including the Newbery, Caldecott and Prinz awards.  The winners were announced at LibLearnX, an event replacing the Midwinter ALA meeting.

As is normal in recent years, many graphic novels and “graphic novel adjacent” books were among the winners. Rather than try to only list the GNs, I’ve taken the whole list and placed the cover and a link where the book is clearly a graphic novel.

The Caldecott winner, Big by Vashti Harrison is, like The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, the best selling adult graphic novel of recent years, something of a hybrid between a straight out graphic novel and an illustrated book. I’ll let the formalists argue where thigns lie and why it matters, but suffice to say it’s a gorgeous book that anyone would be proud to claim.

Mexikid: A Graphic Memoir by Pedro Martín was a Newbery Honor Book, and won many other awards and honors in the list, making it the most prominent straight out graphic novel on the list. Among other comics selected: Worm by Edel Rodriguez, Family Style by Thien Pham, Parachute Kids by Betty C. Tang and IN Limbo by Deb JJ Lee.

I may have missed some winners here; the list is long and I had to reformat it. Any corrections can be added to the comments but congrats to ALL the winners.
