Hoopla digital is a FREE Netflix like comics streaming service that is available via  libraries – more than 1300 of them across Canada and the US. All you need is a valid library card from participating systems and you can read a ton of comics TOTALLY FREE.  They also offer eBooks, audiobooks, movies, music and more, but who has time for all that when there are comics to read!

Hoopla offers a solid list of comics from DC, Vertigo, Image, Archie and Dark Horse so there’s plenty to read.

(Unfortunately NYC libraries do not offer hoopla, so The Beat has yet to actually sample this. Also hoopla is a lower case name, so this one time it isn’t a typo. )

The service is available at five Seattle area libraries, though, and users at ECCC this week can check out a special playlist for the con on hoopla.

  • IDW’s Love is Love
  • Archie Comics’ Riverdale: One Shot, Archie 75th Anniversary Digest and Betty & Veronica Comics Double Digest
  • In addition to these, 20 more Archie Comic titles will come to the service within the next two months

If you’re a member in good standing at a local library that offers the service, just sign up here and get a ton o’ free comics to read.

  1. Hoopla is great! I recommend everyone request their local public libraries begin a subscription, especially if you’re a comic evangelist like myself. This service allowed me to read so many titles that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford.

  2. whoah this weblog is magnificent i love studying your posts.
Keep up the good work! You realize, many individuals are hunting around for this info, you could help them greatly.

  3. I love Hoopla. That is my D.C. fix. MU is Marvel. I don’t buy new any longer. Only back issue silver and bronze.
