On Tuesday, Matthew Rosenberg (Uncanny X-Men) took to Twitter to announce that he’ll be taking on writing duties for the 4 Kids Walk into a Bank movie, which adapts his comic book for the big screen. Originally published by Black Mask in 2016, 4 Kids was co-created by Rosenberg, Tyler Boss (Baby Teeth) and lettered by Thomas Mauer (Kid Savage). It’s a five-issue mini ripe with 80’s nostalgia, drama and friendship that the team pitched as “a very dark & moderately humorous story about friendship, growing up, D&D, puking, skinheads, grand larceny, and family.”

4 Kids is a series that almost seems like a natural transition to the silver screen. Design elements from Tyler Boss turn sections of the book into vivid cuts. When it first released, Kieron Gillen even said “Imagine Tarrantino does Goonies.”  It’s almost like Rosenberg was planning the jump all along.
He signs off his tweet with a note to check back for more on the 4 Kids Walk into a Bank movie, so stay tuned.
