The world of THE NAMES is Big Money. Hedge funds, leveraged buyouts, market raids, flash buys. Incredibly high end deals that ruin lives and economies, where secret cabals gamble with people’s lives and jaded billionaires find their kicks the only way they know how. The idea is to take what’s REALLY GOING in the poisonous, deadly world of high speed, high stakes finance but really TURN IT UP, push it to the edge and make it sexy, dramatic, and thoroughly deadly.
It’s about righting all the wrongs by any means necessary. It’s KILL BILL meets WOLF OF WALL ST. in a world that’s become Too Big to Fail. It’s a relentless thriller that seeks to unlock the DA VINCI CODE that lies at the center of the world’s finances as the people who really pull the strings in the world finally get what’s coming to them.
The world of high finance has a profound but mysterious effect on all of our lives, yet is understood by too few of us. Summary: In the near future, America’s worst nightmare has come true. With military adventurism overseas bogging down the Army and National Guard, the U.S. government mistakenly neglects the very real threat of anti-establishment militias scattered across the 50 states. Like a sleeping giant, Middle America rises up and violently pushes its way to the shining seas, coming to a standstill at the line in the sand—Manhattan or, as the world now knows it, the DMZ.
In this volume, journalist Matty Roth redefines his role in the DMZ, rolling with a private security force and self-defined mandate to heal the city. But is this the start of a brand-new day – or will this “Rise of Matty” end with the fall of just another petty warlord? Then, Matty retreats into self-exile forces to take a good, hard look at himself and his conduct since he entered the DMZ, and he doesn’t like what he sees.

Finger’s television credits include 77 Sunset Strip, The Roaring Twenties and Hawaiian Eye during the late 1950s and early 1960s. His efforts in the super-hero genre also appeared on TV in the 1960s, including material for the animated New Adventures of Superman plus a two-part Clock King episode of the 1966 Batman series. Finger died in New York City on January 24, 1974. He was posthumously inducted into the Eisner Awards Hall of Fame in 1999.

  1. Sturgeon’s Law – HA HA HA HA! Hilarious!

Yeah, they should have that Sandman mini done by now! Taking a long time! They should have fired Williams after the first issue. They should have replaced him with somebody faster, like David Finch or Tony Daniels.

Really, the Overture story would have been better suited for someone like Brett Boothe.

  2. Neil Gaiman crafts his stories to specific artists.

Part of the blame is Gaiman’s fault. He overscheduled himself, and didn’t finish the scripts on time. So, I suppose using Mr. Dong’s logic, DC should have fired him, and replaced him with someone else?

Even the original series had a few scheduling problems. I, for one, do not mind the wait. It would have been a year at best, anyway, and then a wait to read it in collected form.

Boothe’s style is to realistic and grounded in the superhero style. That gatefold of Sandman meeting himselves… that would have looked like every other “group shot” which has been done since Perez. And really… Gaiman returns to Sandman after ten-plus years. You’ve got to have a big name artist to sell the series, to make it a Top Ten title. Williams is a no-brainer, especially after all the variation he did on Promethea.

  3. What is up with the listed artists on this one? I wish Sorrentino was doing Gotham By Midnight!

    Gotham By Midnight Vol. 1
    Ray Fawkes, Andrea Sorrentino

  4. These collections are generally scheduled six months in advance.
There are series here which have not yet started, like Lobo.

Also, these catalog listings do not list every contributor.
For Gotham by Midnight, Sorrentino is listed as a variant cover artist for #1. Ben Templesmith is the regular illustrator. Fawkes is the author, and the variant artist for #2.

  5. Odd that Flash Vol.6 is collecting Flash Annual 3 and #30-34, but not Flash: Future’s End or Flash #35. My understanding is that those two issues wrap up the story that starts in the annual, and #36 starts a new one.

  6. “Batman: Noir… Collects THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS in black and white for the first time.”

And how’s that going to look? I can’t think of a more felicitous collaboration between ink drawing and color than Dark Knight Returns. An original art facsimile along the lines of what IDW is doing would communicate the kernel of value in this concept, but… “Noir”? It’s not going to look like Sin City, DC. I wonder if Miller signed off on this project. Is the goal to make people appreciate Lynn Varley?

  7. Still no Legion Archives 14? Perhaps they don’t want to do the work of shrinking down “That Damn Tabloid” to regular comic size. Maybe we’ll get it after the Legion movie comes out. ;-)

  8. Funny that the DKR NOIR listing still has Varley credited, even ahead of Janson. The only colourist to get a credit in these listings is for a b&w book…

  9. “America Vs The Justice Society” collection?!? Wow! I was just thinking about that old series the other day. It was basically four issues of Roy Thomas recapping every JSA and Earth 2 story from All-Star Comics #1 on. Literally, the JSA sits at a congressional hearing and recounts every single story they’ve appeared in. I guess they’re targeting that part of their audience that is still obsessive about the pre-Crisis continuity of Golden Age comics!

  10. Why Not ‘Absolute’ treatment DIAL-H (Nw52) ??
    – Granted, im Stoked & Shocked its getting an Omnibus! It means DC listen’s sometimes.. But this is part of the Problem like K.Smith’s (Overrated GrnArrow) getting the ABSOLUTE treatment? But Morrison’s Batmn RIP. (which needs it, considering #701 & 702) respectively, remains shelfved!? & China’s DIAL-H gets standard Omnibus (which usually sucks, outside of The Legion one’s)..
    *** WHO’S BEHIND DC’s COLLECTING ***
Their moronic dunderhead’s! Like The LOEB & McGuiness & Turner SUPERMAN – BATMN ABSOLUTE what A mess! It should of ONLY been A LOEB & McGuiness work not just cause #19-26 is arguably the Best story, but It would make it A proper-singular LOEB & McGuiness collection. & you could Also throw in The Super-Bat Annual #1 therefor it would have singular fluidity. Than You could ALSO do A proper ‘SuperGirl’ Super-Bat Absolute cause #7-13; basically continues in #19, leading directly into The AWESOME SuperGirl series #1-5 (also by Loeb). Were Churchill went out of his way to continue the Art- in the sleak trademark ‘Michael Turner’ style. So DC could of had 2 Excellent Absolute’s instead of the Hacky one with no fluidity in story or artistic style..
Furthermore why wouldn’t FOREVER EVIL #1 be collected in JL (New 52) vol.4 ??
