Lance-Hunter-Bobbi-Morse-Gun-Aftershocks

Remember a few months back when there was talk of a spin-off of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that focused on Adrianne Palicki‘s Bobbi Morse and Nick Blood‘s Lance Hunter? At the time it seemed like we were either getting that or Agent Carter Season 2, and once ABC opted to renew the latter, the former basically died on the vine.

Well, nevermind all that, as according to Variety is reporting that Marvel has given the go-ahead for a pilot on the above premise after all, entitled: Marvel’s Most Wanted.

Not a great title, but I guess it gives some idea of the premise (which I have to assume focuses on Morse and Hunter going after said “Most Wanted”), and the series is described as “not a spin-off, per se, but rather an entirely new project focused on the two characters to continue their story”.

Which clearly sounds like a spin-off to me, even if it’s a prequel that has no outright connection to AoS, it would still be a spin-off since it’s using the established characters.

Regardless, little else has changed regarding the project, with the same showrunners on board (Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski). There’s no anticipated start date as of yet, and given that AoS‘ third season kicks off on September 29th and Agent Carter‘s second is scheduled for the mid-season, perhaps we’re looking at a short series debuting in the Summer schedule? That is, provided ABC actually picks up the pilot.
