Hard to believe there only two episodes left in the smash hit X-Men ’97 animated series. I’m fairly certain it goes without saying by now if you want to avoid any and all spoilers, stay off the internet until you’ve seen the episode yourself. Ahead of the release of the X-Men ’97 penultimate episode tomorrow, Marvel has released a clip featuring the team donning some new and familiar uniforms.

Comic fans will certainly recognize costume designs from the comics for a few characters. Jean Grey of course is sporting her iconic second green-and-yellow Marvel Girl costume which was featured in the original X-Men: The Animated Series. Meanwhile, Wolverine is wearing his brown costume designed by comic creator John Bryne which first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #139. While most people associate Wolverine with his iconic yellow and black uniform, the tan costume is a fan-favorite and has appeared in other media, most notably the X-Men: Evolution animated series.

While team member Rogue may be incapacitated following her confrontation with a Prime Sentinel, fans can spot her classic costume which calls back to her look in the comics when she was part of Mystique’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

Storm is back with the team having regained her powers in the episode “Lifedeath Part 2.” In the same episode she also obtained a new costume harkening back to her original black costume. Here’s hoping the new opening title sequence will feature Storm in the new black costume. Likewise, last episode saw Jubilee on a shopping trip with Roberto Da Costa and picking out a new black outfit. It appears she’s keeping it.

Meanwhile it appears Morph and Cable fully embrace the ’90s aesthetics epitomized by Morph’s shoulder pads and Cable’s penchant for Rob Liefeld inspired pouches.

If X-Men ’97 penultimate episode keeps up with the track record of the series thus far, this is one you don’t want to miss!
