WONDER WOMAN #40 concludes Tom King & Daniel Sampere’s run

DC Comics has announced that writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere will wrap up their epic run on Wonder Woman with colorist Tomeu Morey and letterer Clayton Cowles this December. Wonder Woman #40 will conclude the “Wonder War” storyline with a final battle between Diana and her daughter, Trinity, against The Matriarch and The Sovereign.

The Matriarch and her father, the Sovereign, have gathered a group of violent villains to destroy Wonder Woman and all that she represents. Can Diana and her family stand strong and protect the shores of Themyscira from the ultimate threat? Witness the monumental conclusion of the Wonder War and the historic run by Eisner Award-winning writer Tom King and superstar artist Daniel Sampere!

Following a back-up story in Wonder Woman #800 that introduced Trinity to the DC Universe, King and Sampere kicked off their run on Wonder Woman in 2023 as part of the Dawn of DC initiative. The series tied in with the Absolute Power event in 2024, but has largely remained self-contained otherwise, though a King-written Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman spinoff miniseries with art by Belén Ortega was released in 2025.
