In Kotaku’s news post covering the cancellation of E3 2020, writer Jason Schrier revealed that WB Games had planned to unveil at least three games at the video game conference. Those were going to be:

  • A new Batman game rumored to be based on Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo‘s Court of Owls storyline
  • An open-world Harry Potter game that partially leaked in 2018
  • The latest project from Rocksteady, the developer behind the Batman Arkham series, potentially taking on another DC property

Even though news of two of those games leaked, we still know very little about any of them. WB Games will probably still make those announcements in the summertime, but not at E3 2020, which was canceled due to the spread of the coronavirus. They could be made at another event, through a standalone video presentation, or as part of the “online experience” the ESA is working on to replace E3. We’ll have to see what WB decides to do, but it appears fans are close to learning more about three heavily anticipated games.

The cancellation of E3, and delayed announcement of these and likely other games at the conference, are just the latest impacts the coronavirus has had on the games industry. The release dates of several titles have already been pushed back as a result of the virus’s impact on developers located in China, and it’s entirely possible that Microsoft and Sony will have to delay the release of their next-gen consoles as well.
