Vault Comics and GraphicAudio® A Movie In Your Mind® have partnered for a Wasted Space audiobook adaptation taken directly from the graphic novel and produced with a full cast of actors, sound effects, and cinematic music.
The comic book series was created by writer Michael Moreci and artist Hayden Sherman. The rest of the creative team includes colorist Jason Wordie, letterer Jim Campbell, and designer Tim Daniel. The story follows Billy Bane, a prophet who got it all wrong, and the galaxy has been burning because of it. All Billy wants is to waste away in the darkest corner of space with his best pal Dust, a supercharged Fuq bot. A new prophet comes along, however, and Billy is summoned to save the galaxy he’s at least partially responsible for destroying.
“Wasted Space is a bouncy, twisting ride of a story, blasting through space opera tropes and conventions with a splash of social satire,” said audiobook director, Richard Rohan. “Having the opportunity to render that story in GraphicAudio was almost as much fun as the story itself!”
“It’s been a joy working with GraphicAudio on the Wasted Space adaptation—they’ve been so faithful to the material while adding in new and fun story angles,” said co-creator Moreci. “I’ve loved what I’ve heard, and I’m so confident other people will, too. This cinematic space opera brought to life in the best way.”
“GraphicAudio has brought Wasted Space to life in a whole new way here that’s just crazy cool,” added co-creator Sherman. “It’s faithful and fun and has me dying to find out what each issue sounds like.”
Wasted Space audiobook will be released on September 30. Pre-orders are now open on GraphicAudio’s website. Volumes One and Two of the comic series are available now at your local comic shop and online. The third story arc begins in November. Head to Vault’s website for more info.
