Titan Comics has announced they are partnering with White Wolf Publishing to release Vampire: The Masquerade: Wake in Hate, a new, four-issue series based on the popular tabletop role-playing game, starting this November. Written by John Lees (The Nasty) with art by DC Comics veteran Tom Mandrake, the book follows a vampire trying to uncover which of its kind has taken to hunting (thereby “breaking the masquerade”) in a city currently in the midst of political turmoil.
The official synopsis says, “When a city on edge becomes a feeding ground, one vampire is sent into the chaos to uncover what’s really hunting amidst the protests. In the shadows of a city on fire, the bloody feed on every screen has spilled into the streets. Amidst the turmoil, whispers spread of bodies drained in the chaos, killings too precise to be human. When suspicion falls on vampires exploiting the unrest, the powers that be turn to Silky, enigmatic owner of The Dutchman bar, to uncover the truth.”
Simeon “Silky” Ladock was introduced in 2025’s video game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, where he was voiced by Alan Turkington. Lees comments, “One of the most evocative aspects of Bloodlines 2 is its setting in Seattle, a city I love, and it was really fun to expand on that and make Seattle and its recent history integral to our story. And getting to work with the great Tom Mandrake to bring this story to life has been a delight – I can’t wait for you to see more of the superb work he’s been doing on this book!”
Mandrake adds, “Getting contacted by [editor] Louis [Yamani] felt like a full circle moment. It reminded me that I had done single illustrations for the RPG books over 20 years ago. Returning to this wonderful, dark franchise after all this time is already proving to be an amazing experience. We have a great team. John Lees’ scripts ring true to Vampire: The Masquerade while firmly rooting the story in the real world. We’re developing new characters and new lore for [the game] while playing in the very deep pool of characters and settings that already exist, a balancing act that I truly enjoy.”
Titan is the third company to publish Vampire: The Masquerade comics, following Moonstone (from 2001 to 2003), and Vault (2020-21). Vault, who also released a series exploring White Wolf’s wider World of Darkness universe, are set to release a compact edition of their complete run on September 1. The deal presumably opens the door for Titan to publish more World of Darkness titles, including Werewolf: The Apocalypse.
Wake in Hate #1 will be released on November 11, with a host of variant covers. You can check those out below, along with uncolored interior pages. The trade paperback will follow in April 2027. In the meantime, the alpha playtest for the upcoming sixth edition of the tabletop game is available now.
