If you’re a comic book collector or Marvel fan you should know that ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #1 sold out in a heartbeat. Reviving the Ultimate series seems to be driving sales for Marvel, as the issue has been met with nothing but rave reviews and universal love. It’s a big reason why despite having not even launched in stores until tomorrow, ULTIMATE BLACK PANTHER #1 by Bryan Hill and Stefano Caselli… is already sold out.
“I think the difference between what’s going on now in the 616 and what’s going on in ULTIMATE BLACK PANTHER is I’m using a broader philosophical canvas,” Hill told ComicBook.com in a recent interview. “I think that Wakanda and the world of Black Panther is vast and extends into history up until now, headed towards the future. It’s a lot. I’ve been using Frank Herbert’s Dune as an analog to what I’m doing in the sense that you have a rich world with varying philosophical ideas and the sort of conflict and synergy between ancient spiritualism and modern practical politics.”
A second printing has been ordered for March 13th featuring brand-new cover art by POWERS OF X artist, R.B. Silva. It also will be the same launch day as Ultimate Black Panther #2. The series promises to take a new look at the Black Panther just after Ultimate Invasion, where a combined force of Khonshu and Ra create this version’s variation of Moon Knight, who goes to war against Africa itself causing Wakanda to take arms.
