Tom Holland, the notoriously loose-lipped star of the upcoming Spider-Man: Far from Home slipped yet again in a recent interview with co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. As part of the movie’s press tour, the two celebs spoke to various outlets about what to expect from their new movie and the experience of working together. In spite of his track record, Disney let Holland out of the house again, and he got up to his same old tricks. Needless to say, beware of spoilers below!
In the video below, Holland — let’s call him Spoiler-Man — flips much of what fans though they knew about the movie on its head. He says that Mysterio isn’t actually the villain at all. In fact, he says Mysterio is Spider-Man’s “new best friend” and that they have a quaint team-up against a slew of monsters. Holland goes on, “We fight together to fight these creatures… because when Thanos snaps his fingers, these creatures come from other dimensions…”

Oh, Tom. Even though it’s just a few sentences, he’s let a whole lot slip. Many fans were suspicious of the term “multiverse” in previous Far From Home trailers, but we can now confirm that Thanos inadvertently created them when he wiped out half the galaxy. Presumably, that’s what Holland references when he mentions the “creatures” that “come from other dimensions.” The possibilities for the MCU, the upcoming Disney+ shows and perhaps even Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are just as limitless as their source material. Holland really stepped in it with this revelation alone.
More importantly, though, is the first part of his statement. Mysterio and Spider-Man are best friends. Gyllenhaal and Holland are best friends. If this relationship continues to blossom past Far from Home, the MCU will have peaked. Need more proof? Look no further than the chemistry in this video where Gyllenhaal proves himself as the only answer to Spoiler-Man.
Spider-Man: Far from Home hits theaters on July 2.
