It’s safe to assume IDW has big plans to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the TMNT franchise. Sure enough, today the publisher revealed via IGN a most special crossover in the pages TMNT: Saturday Morning Adventures #12 where the turtles from the past animated and comic book TMNT projects will collide.
Worlds collide in this new storyline from writer Erik Burnham and artist Sarah Myer. As fans can see, “the 1987 Turtles will meet Leonardo from the classic Mirage comic book run, Donatello from the 2003 animated series, Michelangelo from the 2012 animated series, Raphael from Rise of the TMNT and Jennika from the current IDW comic universe.”
IDW’s official description for TMNT: Saturday Morning Adventures #12:
As promised, Mister Ogg is back! His last attempt to punish the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ wisecracking ways and meta mannerisms failed, but he’s still got a few surprises up his sleeve. He’s devised a set of challenges, and if the Turtles win, he’ll never bring up their fourth wall-breaking again. If they lose, though, the consequences will be dire-they’ll be wiped from existence! Let the games begin with part 1 of the Ogglympics!
As Burnham tells IGN.
“IDW and Nickelodeon have always been very supportive of every weird idea our Saturday Morning crew has thrown out, getting enthusiastic and offering suggestions to make things the most fun they can be, and this was no different. The powers that be put some rules in place, gave some great notes, and then let us go play… and it was a blast. Sarah and Luis Antonio Delgado crushed the pages, as they are known
Myer added:
“Fans can look forward to new settings (keep your eyes peeled for a couple of Easter eggs) and a mashup of turtles and their respective art styles never seen together before in the same story! We had a blast paying tribute to the various Turtle iterations and hope you’ll enjoy seeing how they interact in this mysterious interdimensional adventure — as Erik said, with a twist!”
The preorder deadline for TMNT: Saturday Morning Adventures #12 is on March 18. The issue will be released on April 24.
