The red-band Suicide Squad trailer is here and it’s just as bonkers and madcap as you’d expect from the mind of writer/director James Gunn. This is one DC Comics movie you definitely want to make sure you see on the big screen.

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Starro, the starfish alien best known as the first villain to face off against the Justice League, would be appearing in the fact. Sure enough, by the end of the trailer we get a clear glimpse Starro going full “kaiju” at the end of the Suicide Squad. I would expect nothing less from James Gunn.

The Suicide Squad arrives on Friday, August 6, 2021, in theaters and will be available in the U.S. on HBO Max for 31 days from the theatrical release.

Gunn’s creative team includes director of photography Henry Braham (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”), production designer Beth Mickle (“Captain Marvel”), editors Fred Raskin (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood”) and Christian Wagner (the “Fast & Furious” films) and Oscar-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky (“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”). The music is by John Murphy (“Kick-Ass”).

  1. Any reason the trailer doesn’t hint at what the film is actually about? The only plot points we see are when they go to rescue Harley Quinn, who has already escaped, and then at the end of the trailer we see Starro. Other than that they just seem to be introducing the characters, most of whom are new to me. Not excited yet.

  2. My gosh. I look at something this awful and inept and shake my head at the thought that there are people who actually want stuff like this.

    Man, is Scorsese right …
