Today, HBO released a new trailer for season 7 of Game of Thrones. The series, based upon George R.R. Martin’s hit series of novels, is quickly approaching its end. With only two more seasons to go and a reduced episode order for both this season and the final one, fans are eagerly expecting bombastic battles and climactic meetings between the series’ lead cast members. And that looks to be exactly what they’ll get when the new season begins on July 16th.
There’s not a whole lot of new information to glean from this trailer, to be honest. Like the first preview for this season, it looks like Game of Thrones is going to be entirely climax this year. We’re going to see huge battles between the Lannister army and Daenerys Targaryen’s Unsullied soldiers. We’ll get dragons– dragons everywhere. We’ll see the Greyjoy fleet burn to the ground and watch the Night King and his army of White Walkers encroach on the territory south of the wall. We’ll see the Hound and Beric Dondarrion try to stop them.
We’ll see everyone bleed. As is Game of Thrones‘ modus operandi.
And man oh man did I miss series composer Ramin Djawadi’s “Light of the Seven” song, which backs this trailer. The track still sends shivers through my bones.
