It’s no exaggeration to say that DC publishing has been on fire with its comics in the past year. The fact that so many of its titles are consistently top sales characters is a testament to the publisher’s success. So it’s not surprising that so many of DC’s books have had the original number of planned issues extended. To whit, with the release of The Fury of Firestorm #6 today, DC has announced that the acclaimed DC Next Level series will continue through issue #15, extending Jeff Lemire and Rafael de Latorre‘s hit reimagining of Firestorm with six additional issues.

Created by Gerry Conway and Al Milgrom, the self-proclaimed Nuclear Man has been a fan-favorite since he first made the scene back in the late ’70s. Nevertheless, Firestorm has been somewhat underutilized over the years. With this Fury of Firestorm series however, the creative team of Lemire and de Latorre have hit upon a new fresh take that both honors the character’s legacy and takes him in an unexplored direction.

Here’s what Lemire teased:

The Fury of Firestorm has been one of those dream projects that just keeps giving,” said Lemire. “Much like the Firestorm matrix, the story has taken on a life of its own and just keeps expanding into new and unexpected directions.”

“If you think the end of issue 6 was crazy, wait until you see what we do next,” shared Lemire.

With six additional issues from Jeff Lemire, Rafael De Latorre, Marcelo Maiolo, and Lucas Gattoni, The Fury of Firestorm will continue into 2027.
