Legendary Comics and Rocketship Entertainment have launched Street Fighter: The Official Movie Graphic Novel, a tie-in to the new film version of the classic Capcom fighting game, on Kickstarter. The 150-page hardcover book features origin stories for the movie’s versions of various characters, including one for the villainous M. Bison, written by his actor, David Dastmalchian.
The book will also spotlight Ken & Ryu (played in the film by Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji), Chun-Li (Callina Liang), Guile & Dhalsim (Cody Rhodes and Vidyut Jammwal), and Dan Hibiki (Andrew Schulz). The creative teams for each story are:

Robert Napton, SVP and Publisher of Legendary Comics, comments, “Street Fighter is a fantastic film adaptation of the game lore for new and old fans alike and we wanted to take a deeper look at the movie versions of the characters in a prequel graphic novel.”
Backers will have the option of three different covers, by Ryan Benjamin, Reilly Brown, and Khary Randolph, which together form a connected tableau. The Kickstarter will run until Friday, October 9, at 3pm ET, and at the time of writing, has raised $11,121 of its $70,000 goal. For more information and artwork, head to the page.
In the meantime, the new Street Fighter movie, directed by Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show), and co-starring Roman Reigns, Eric André, 50 Cent, and Jason Momoa, will be released in theaters on October 16.
