Jay Garrick won’t be the only Flash joining Grant Gustin‘s Barry Allen in Season 2 of the popular CW series, as Australian actor Keiynan Lonsdale has signed on to play Wally West per Variety.

Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg released the following statement after the casting was announced:

Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.

In comics canon, Wally is Iris West’s nephew, but on the television series we’ve yet to meet any siblings for Iris.  I look forward to seeing if they retroactively add a Rudolph West into the show or if maybe he’s involved in the same parallel dimension happenings that will bring Jay onto the series.

This is the most recent in a fairly eventful set of weeks for the series, as Teddy Sears was announced as Jay Garrick, along with Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot, back at SDCC. Not long after, Adam Copeland was cast as Adam Smasher and Michael Ironside will be playing Lewis Snart (father of Captain Cold). Finally, this week, the CW added Falk Hentschel (Hawkman) and Casper Crump (Vandal Savage) for the Legends of Tomorrow spin-off, with both characters expected to debut on the Arrow/Flash crossover episode.

The Flash‘s second season will premiere on October 6th.
