Last week, Netflix released their adaption of The Umbrella Academy and helped a couple of super fans of the series have a wedding to match. Nick “Ducky” Vojtek and Katharine Nitschke fell in love in part thanks to their shared interest in the Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá comic turned webseries, which follows seven superpowered siblings as they work through the traumas of their past and try to save the world from imminent destruction.

Vojtek and Nitschke were married in New York City last Friday. Coincidentally, that was the same day Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy was released. Celebrating their love of the series and one another, Netflix helped coordinate a crazy Umbrella Academy themed wedding for the couple.

In Times Square, the spouses-to-be joined a parade filled with violinists and people carrying black umbrellas. They made their way to Bryant Park, where friends and family were gathered beneath a 60 foot umbrella. Once beneath the massive structure, Vojtek and Nitschke said their vows, had a very chic and very goth first dance, and toasted at Griddy’s Doughnut shop. Robert Sheehan, who plays Klaus in The Umbrella Academy show, even showed up to give them a performance. And it was all captured on video, which you can watch below.

Finally, because everything surrounding this affair is a full on throwback to the mid 2000s, Vojtek’s and Nitschke’s wedding photos are hosted on a special Myspace page.
