Today’s grim warning: Noah Van Sciver on breaking in

Guys, if you want to get with a woman, do not make her watch Buffalo 66. I repeat, do not watch Buffalo 66 with your woman. I know you think Vincent Gallo is really cool and edgy and it's a romantic film about vengeance and attraction, but it's really about a dangerous psychopath made by a serial abuser who imagines a toxic fantasy of a willing female victim. It is total creepsville plus everyone misses a field goal now and then, just like Jeurys Familia gives up a home run once a year and it happens to be in the World Series.

31 days of Halloween: Immortan Joe and War Boy makeup tutorials — PLUS this...

This is one of those links that is to promote a website -- in this case Wholesale Halloween Costumes -- but the tutorials are cool enough to deserve a link. We all know Mad Max will be a big Halloween and cosplay favorite this year, and here';s who to make yourself a War Boy or Immortan Joe -- I guess to be a Sexy Furiosa all you need is some black eyeliner. The Joe costume is especially clever ..."you won't believe how they made his teeth!" I'm a total loser when it comes to crafting costumes -- I like dressing up but fabricating is far beyond my ken or skills, so I'm always impressed with anyone who can figure this stuff out.

Elite Beat Roundtable: Is CBS’s new SUPERGIRL show hot or not?

7
The Supergirl pilot that debuted last night on CBS a lot of weight on its shoulders. The show tells the story of Kara Zor-El, played by Melissa Benoist, as she escapes Superman's shadow and comes into her own as National City's first superhero. It is the network's first major superhero endeavor, the first superhero show led be a solo female in more than 40 years and the pilot had a lot of ground to cover, attempting to endear characters to new viewers while also trying to re-envision elements of the mythos without alienating established comics fans. Does it succeed? The Beat is here to tell you with a hard hitting roundtable. We've always wanted to have one of those.

Even as the dead leaves rattle through the dooryard, turkeys gargle their last calls and pumpkin spice invades our dreams, there are still a few more comic events to come, including, just this weekend, the Locust Moon Festival in Philadelphia (disclosure: an advertiser on this site.) A lively event for a burgeoning local comics scene, the Locust Moon Fest, run by the comic shop of the same name, will have a stellar guest line up this year, including Chris Claremont, Bill Sienkiewicz, Alexa Kitchen, Ronald Wimberly, Craig Thompson and Dean Haspiel, among many others...and now...Mark Beyer!

strong>Sam Humphries (Guardians of the Galaxy & X-Men: The Black Vortex) and artist Javier Garron (Inferno, Cyclops) are getting all new and different to tell the origin of Star-Lord...or perhaps AN origin of Star-Lord, since the movie version's dad is still a mystery. But in the MU:
