Jen's 2012 Indie Comic-Con Photo Diary
Fun photos from San Diego Comic-Con! I'm no 'virgin' to cons but this was my first time at the BIG SHOW and working at a publisher (Fantagraphics) instead being a freelance cartoonist. Still, I managed to sneak in some photos during my bathroom breaks. More fun below:
SDCC 12: Mike Costa and Jon Armstrong have some Smoke and Mirrors
By Henry Barajas--
IDW was kind enough to invite me to a see a magic show at their booth at the San Diego Comic Convention as if there wasn’t enough magic in comic con. I have to admit I was a bit leary about attending a magic show. I’m very ignorant of the whole thing. I was afraid they were going to saw me in half and separate me from my nicely shaved legs. I got to the booth and I was greeted by the creators of Smoke and Mirrors, Mike Costa and Jon Armstrong. Jon is an award winning magician that has been performing internationally for over twenty years. Before we started the interview Jon was kind enough to do some card tricks.

Working for the Man: MoCCA 2012
BY JEN VAUGHN - Fantagraphics Books isn't necessarily THE MAN of the comics world but since I've only ever self-published my own comics, MoCCA 2012 was my first two days on the job as a staff member of the independent comics publisher. There are more than a few differences between the two experiences. Read on!
One man's quest to buy comics on Wednesday
I have to admit, at this point in my life, I'm not much of a floppy comics reader. I've been fishing SAGA and PROPHET out of my Image comps, and every two months or so I go to Hanleys in search of a missing back issue but...I'm not part of the Wednesday Crowd.
Which is why all the talk of pull lists and ordering and racing to get to the store go right over my head.
So it wasn't until i read this piece by Todd Allen for PW that I finally understood.
