MEANWHILE, at Marvel, a nother significant hire, as Sven Larsen, has joined Marvel as their new Director, Licensed Publishing.
He posted the news today on FB:
Seems like the news is getting out there, so I’m excited to confirm that as of this Friday I’ll be (re)joining Marvel Entertainment as their new Director, Licensed Publishing. Thanks to my new bosses, John Nee and Dan Buckley for the incredible opportunity. Can’t wait to work with old friends like Mark Paniccia, Bill Rosemann , Michael Pasciullo and all the talented folks who make Marvel so special.
As mentioned, Larsen had a previous tour of duty at Marvel working in the sales and marketing dept. He’s also worked at Teshkeel, Papercutz, and most recently a consultant with AfterShock and the Naval Institute Press’s new graphic novel imprint. In short he knows eveyrthing, knows it all, knows the business, and likes new ideas.
He’s a very smart publishing exec, and another strong hire by Marvel’s new executive line-up.
Also, “Licensed Publishing” – there’s obviously gold in them thar hills, and Marvel isn’t going to let this opportunity slip by. Note that this means licensing Marvel’s content OUT, as well as acquiring licenses.
Whoo, what else can happen today? I’m afraid to ask.
With this and getting the rights to Conan back…is Marvel actually starting to think like a comic publisher again?
It’s time for a second attempt at licensing some of those Franco-Belgian books… =)
I am super happy to hear this. Sven is a wonderful guy, knows his stuff, and is fun to be around. This is great news!!!!!
Old bud Sven is back. Really smart guy i had the pleasure to work with.
