Last September the first image and voice cast were revealed for the Superman: Red Son, the next DC Comics animated feature, an adaptation of the fan favorite Elsworlds storyline by Mark Millar and Dave Johnson. Today, courtesy of IGN the Superman: Red Son trailer has been released. Fans of the original Red Son storyline will be delighted to see not only Russian Batman wearing his trademark ushanka hat but also the Green Lantern Marine Corps. Superman: Red Son is based on DC’s classic 2003 Elseworlds comic by Mark Millar. The story takes place in an alternate reality where the spaceship carrying Kal-El lands in Stalinist Russia instead of the Kents’ farm in Kansas, resulting in a Man of Steel who’s not so concerned with the American way.
The new film features the voice talents of Jason Isaacs as Kal-El, Amy Acker as Lois Lane, Diedrich Bader as Lex Luthor, Phil Morris as James Olsen, Phil LaMarr as John Stewart, Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, Sasha Roiz as Hal Jordan, Roger Craig Smith as Batman, Paul Williams as Braniac, and William Salyers as Joseph Stalin.
Directed and produced by Reign of the Supermen director Sam Liu and written by Batman: Bad Blood‘s J.M. DeMatteis, Superman: Red Son will be released in early 2020.
