Has the definitive “comic con” movie yet been made? A new contender has entered the arena: SUPERCON, sporting the tagline “They have been cosplayed for the last time.”

Directed by Zak Knutson, from a script by Knutson, Andy Sipes and Dana Snyder, the film stars Ryan Kwanten, Maggie Grace, Mike Epps, Brooks Braselman, Russell Peters, Clancy Brown, John Malkovich. Knutson is best known for directing the documentary Milius and a long association with Kevin Smith, which you can see all over this.
Malkovich plays former TV star Adam King, whom we see in the trailer pocketing wads of cash for his convention appearances. Kwanten and Grace head up a gang – made up of an 80’s child star, a cartoon voice-over actor, a comic book artist and another 80’s TV star, Keith Mahar (Peters) whom King has gotten banned from conventions – to steal money and right wrongs.
As you can see from the Green Band trailer (above) and the Red Band, below, this is firmly set in the world of cons, including the pipes and vents that must have intrigued nerdlebrities as they wander through the secret halls of facilities around the world. Also poop and farts, but this IS an R rated comedy from a Kevin Smith team member.
SUPERCON debuts in theaters and on VOD and Digital HD on April 27, 2018. The DVD will come out on June 5, 2018.

And some stills: not sure what convention center that actually is. Team?
