Studio Coffee Run 3/2/12: John Carter, a major Walking Dead production leak, Game of Thrones promo ramp up, Arrow and more

It’s been trailer mania this week! In case you missed ’em, here’s new trailers for John Carter and The Avengers. I got no quibbles with neither of ’em. I’m psyched for both March and May. But nothing compares to my excitement about April. In addition to taxes, WAR IS COMING! HBO is ramping up promo for the second season of Game of Thrones, which premieres on April 1st. That’s less than a month away, you sorry sons of whores! EW’s got the hook up on on new posters. Check out the new bloody direwolf poster to the left. And!  Here’s a new trailer with dragons, and Melissandre and loads of Lannister shenanigans! And while we’re on the subject of Lannisters, a Denmark fan site called My Fansite has an exclusive interview with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister), whose name makes me want to kill myself every time I have to spell it. At least new Game of Thrones episodes give me a reason to live (via Spinoff Online, EW, and myFanBase)

Another thing that’s renewing my spirit and giving me a skip in my step is The Hunger Games.  I’m getting more excited about this movie with each passing day. Me and my posse got advance tickets and author Suzanne Collins has seen the film and officially endorsed it on the movie’s Facebook page. She says the movie “opens up the world beyond Katniss’ point of view, allowing the audience access to the happenings of places like the Hunger Games control room and President Snow’s rose garden, thereby adding a new dimension to the story.” (via Deadline)

In other strong female character news, Nickelodeon has released a trailer for its highly anticipated sequel series to Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Laster Airbender: Legend of Korra (via Spinoff Online)

SPOILER ALERT!!!!! In more coming soon news, the AMC Website has inadvertently revealed/confirmed the much rumored about character death of a certain Walking Dead character who should have already been dead by now according to the comic cannon. Jesus, they need to get it together on that set with the intentional and unintentional leaks. This sh*t’s getting embarassing. Of course, no one should be surprised by this. Even Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) told TV Guide that, “not everyone gets out alive,” this season. As long as Daryl and his crossbow are stickin’ around, I’m happy. I know there’s been some mixed reviews, but I’m loving this season of The Walking Dead. It’s cohesive, the character development is off the hinges, and the zombie attacks and killings are getting better and better. Oh man, with all the Spring TV and movie news, I keep forgetting about True Blood, which premieres this Summer. The big news for trewbies this week is that Alan Ball is stepping down as showrunner. From an entirely armchair perspective, I believe this might mark that the end of the series. Ball has said before that the bloody sexy fun can’t go on forever in television form since the actors who play vampires age. Additionally, Ball’s got a reputation for ending things when the going is still good, a la Six Feet Under. (via EW)

In development news, Sony Pictures has acquired the Valiant comic series Bloodshot (via Deadline)

Aaaaand, we’ll close out on some news from the CW series Arrow, which as you will recall is “loosely based” on DC”s The Green Arrow comics. The series is apparently exporting some characters from Smallville. This thing is sounding more schizophrenic with each tidbit that comes out about it. I’m keeping an open mind, but I’ll be totally amazed if it’s any good. (via TV Addict – first item)
