Stan Lee’s superhuman endurance and vitality at an age when most people are drooling into their rascal has been amazing and inspiring. But even The Man is finally beginning to slow down on a travel schedule that would take people half his age. HIs trip to Fan Expo in Toronto this September will be his last Canadian appearance, he’s announced , saying he hopes to make it “mean something.”

But why do you not want to do it anymore?

“It’s so pleasant to go somewhere where people like you and want to hear what you have to say. It’s very flattering. But I’m 93 years old. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to do it. I want to make this one big event.”

You don’t strike me as slowing down.

“Well, I can’t run the marathon and win the way I used to.”

At age 93 Stan is certainly allowed to slow his pace a bit. I expect we’ll be seeing more “farewell tour” announcements like this gradually. That said, he looks pretty chipper in the above photo from a recent personal apperance.

  1. I met him two years ago. I suggest everyone who ever dreamed of meeting this man do whatever they can to make this a reality. Beyond memorable.
