It’s the first Wednesday of August! And while you may be lamenting how quickly the summer is flying by, you can find joy in this week’s Small Press Spotlight! Today, we take a peek at Tiny Wizards from Eben Burgoon. Read the synopsis of the comic below:

“When an ancient realm of magic finds itself dying, the wizards combine their magical power to transport their world to a new one. Ours. Unfortunately, they arrive in our world at the small scale of a French fry and are stranded in a remote truck-stop town mostly populated by fast-food joints.

Tiny Wizards takes the meats of fantasy genre classics like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones and smashes into a warm bun of absurdity and the small-scale of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! and Ant-Man slathering it in a rich sauce of adventure-comedy of urban fantasy tropes like Onward or Harry Potter.

Burgoon is best known for collaborating on various publishing projects with the Burbank-based animation studio, Starburns Industries, and helping to develop their boutique publishing division, Starburns Industries Press. Previous works also include Eben07: Covert Custodian, a webcomic about spies and their janitorial staff, and B-Squad: Soldiers of Misfortune.

Joining Burgoon on the fantasy series is UK-based artist Dean Beattie, who hand-painted the book. Michael Sekigahama is on letters. Fun fact: the book debuted at a local California brewery, where a Tiny Wizards beer was created in the book’s honor.
