It’s Wednesday afternoon! This week the Small Press Spotlight is celebrating small press heroes.
First, let’s check out an upcoming title from Binge Books. The Heroes Union #1 is set to release this summer, bringing you 68 pages of family-friendly adventure from acclaimed writer Roger Stern (The Avengers, Captain America) and celebrated artists Ron Frenz (Thor, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Sal Buscema (Captain America, The Defenders).
This is the first of several planned releases to be made available as a modernized, Binge Book edition. Created by veteran TV writer Darin Henry (“Seinfeld,” “Futurama,” “KC Undercover”), Binge Books are tailored for today’s audiences who want to binge their favorite content, hence the oversized issue with plenty of story to be released all at once.
The Heroes Union #1 also marks the reunion of Stern and Frenz, the creative team behind the iconic Spider-Man story, “The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man,” (The Amazing Spider-Man #248). With a special arrangement with the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, the book will be the first comic in more than a decade to feature the official Comics Code Authority Seal. Each copy will be uniquely numbered for collectors, and the publisher hints that some of the numbered variants may eventually entitle their owners to additional perks. Stay tuned for details.
