By now you all know that Sunday’s Simpsons episode used Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” as their opening theme as the above video shows. But did you know the episode also contained an in-joke relating to the San Diego Comic-Con’s potential move to Anaheim? It’s true!

Thanks to ZT for the tip.

  1. Heh-heh.

Even Comic Book Guy doesn’t want “SDCC” to become “ACC” [or would it be “TLACCA”: The Los Angeles Comic-Con of Anaheim”?]…

But what’s his opinion of “LVCC” [“255”]?

  2. After all these years, that the Simpsons can still delight us with things like the Tik Tok opening is really cool. No wonder it’s like the only TV show Alan Moore watches.

  3. I thought Moore also said he was a fan of South Park. And given his past professed love of The Wire, I would bet he’ll be watching Treme.

  4. The Ke$ha opening was surreal. I remember watching it thinking “huh”.

I think this is the first time The Simpson’s has had a completely different opening. (not counting THOH or the parts they tweak for each episode)

  5. Darn, missed the opening. But the Comic-Con joke even made my wife laugh, and she hasn’t been following that news. The context made it work anyway.

  6. Shows like the Simpsons would be great once again if only they did in-country animation, and had a turn-out rate like South Park, so they could be more relevant to today’s rapid media output.

  7. Why would they do in country animation when it’s ridiculously expensive to do so? You’re also being very generous by putting out hope that this show can somehow magically become great again by simply making more episodes.

  8. It’d be so crowded during the summer when everyone’s going to Disneyland. I don’t want to have to stay at the Disneyland hotels if these hotel worker protests are still going on.

  9. I’d love Comic-Con to come to my hometown, but it already gets pretty crazy during the summer with all the people going to Disneyland.

  10. I think it’s kind of cheezy to have Comic-Con right next to Disneyland…it’s going to be so crowded during the summer too.
