At the Diamond retailer lunch for San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Marvel showcased the debut of two new female characters based on two of their most popular superheroes. These two young girl superheroes are officially revealed to be Wade Wilson’s daughter Ellie, as the new Deadpool in Cody Ziglar’s and Rogê Antônio’s DEADPOOL #7, and a brand new super secret new character debuting in Dan Slott and Paco Medina‘s called… SPIDER-GIRL (Mind-blowing, we know)!
It comes as no surprise to see Ellie’s taking on the mantle in DEADPOOL given the new film’s launch debut and potential spinoffs in the making. Marvel also has this knack of late to showcase the passing of the torch right now. Though to be quite real for quite a real moment: the odds of Wade Wilson’s Deadpool ever staying dead are just about slim to none.
What’s more compelling to me, of course, is Spider-Girl. This is partly because we’ve had so many great Spider-Women/Girls in the past (including the beloved Mayday Parker), but also, because we’ve seen the overhype that happened around Spider-Boy just last year. As Spider-Boy finds a potential new play-spider to fight crime with, how will things change? And what does it mean?
Here’s the scoop along with all the full details and artwork below.

Deadpool is dead—long live Deadpool! It was previously revealed that Wade Wilson will meet his end at the hands of new super villain Death Grip this October in DEADPOOL #6. Following this shocking turn of events, his daughter, Ellie Camacho, will step up as the all-new Deadpool starting in November’s DEADPOOL #7!
Revealed at the Diamond Retailer Lunch at San Diego Comic-Con, Ellie’s new role is the latest twist in what’s been writer Cody Ziglar’s roller coaster of a run. To welcome the new Merc with a Mouth, Ziglar will be joined by guest artist Andrea Di Vito and co-writer Alexis Quasarano in her Marvel Comics debut.
This is the new issue of ongoing series, on sale October 2.
Spider-Boy #12
Written by Dan Slott
Art and Cover by Paco Medina
Variant Cover by Mark Bagley
Debuting in SPIDER-BOY #12, Slott and designer/artist Michael Cho created the new Spider-Hero that superstar artist Paco Medina will take through her first on-page adventure! SPIDER-GIRL’s mysterious backstory will supersede even Spider-Boy’s shocking origin! Just as the emergence of Spider-Boy turned the Spider-Verse inside out and fueled fan speculation for months, SPIDER-GIRL has a story to share that will keep readers guessing and make Spider-Man, Spider-Boy, and all the rest question EVERYTHING! The upcoming issue of SPIDER-BOY will also feature an exciting team-up with Daredevil.
THE ALL-NEW … SPIDER-GIRL?! After the recent status quo shake-up, Spider-Boy’s life really will NEVER be the same again! In light of what happened, maybe it’s time for Bailey Briggs to be someone else’s sidekick. Get ready Daredevil, because here comes The “Boy Without Fear”! Also in this issue: find out what Bullseye has to do with it all.
Finally, at the lunch Marvel unveiled a single still panel with a promise. What it means can be significant… as a lot of folks really love Ryan North’s fantastic Four run.
