With so much stimuli everywhere you turn at San Diego Comic-Con International, it can be hard to take in the sights, sounds, feelings, tastes and smells. Luckily, there are plenty of professional and amateur photographers and videographers walking around, recording memories for those in attendance and those following along from elsewhere in the world. Today, we bring you SDCC ’19: Day 1 in photos taken by Pinguino, a contributing photographer who’s on the ground with The Beat crew in San Diego.
We’ve got video, too! Our own Alex Lu, Kyle Pinion and Heidi MacDonald have recorded a few videos for The Beat‘s fledgling YouTube channel, including an exploration of Batman’s 80th Anniversary event, an interview with Todd McFarlane, and a journey through the con floor in an attempt to glean industry insider secrets (in exchange for donuts, naturally).
Check out some of Pinguino’s photos below. Of note: many Marge Simpsons, Jubilee with some stunner shades, the Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth, and two Pakistani students, Khawaja Bilal Ahmed Lone and Tayyaba Abdullah, attending their first-ever Comic-Con with the help of comic book writer Joshua Dysart.
Once you’ve caught up on SDCC ’19 Day 1 in photos, make sure to check out everything we covered on Thursday at SDCC. The Beat is on the scene!
