The History Channel’s TV show Vikings (starring Travis Fimmel, our Nerdlebrity Icon for San Diego) has always had a notable presence at Comic-Con with Viking Boat Races one year, but this year they are outdoing themselves with an authentic SNAKE PIT!!! Being surrounded by hissing reptiles was an actual, fiendish thing in Viking times, and served as a way to kill enemies, or at least scare them straight.

The San Diego version in Booth #4215 will enable con-goers to “experience the raw fear of being surrounded by real snakes in a dark, dank abyss with no immediate escape.” Which sounds awful, but I guess some people like a dank abyss. For those willing to recreate the “torture and the terror” of Viking times, fear not, all your friends will be able to see it:

Attendees with enough nerve to enter the den will have their screams and writhing captured on camera in shareable rapid gifs. Survivors will receive a Vikings Viper Cuff as a token of their triumph over death.

On Wednesday July 20 and Thursday July 21, there will be opportunities for fans to enter for chances to get tickets to the Vikings Cast Panel or the Vikings Cast Autograph Session, both on Friday July 22.

Also available while supplies last, the custom Vikings Limited Edition Comic Book with a story by Michael Hirst and the always popular drinking horn.

While there does not appear to be an opportunity to get in the snake pit WITH Travis Fimmel, this should still be grand fun for all.
