Family reunion! Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld is back with his bouncing baby boy with a standalone graphic novel this May. Deadpool: Bad Blood features a story by Liefeld and Chris Sims & Chad Bowers (X-Men ’92) and art and covers by the man himself. Cable, Domino, X-Force and Star-Lord also appear, making this a Liefeld-verse bonanza!
Shooting, stabbing and otherwise annoying his way across the Marvel Universe has made Deadpool his fair share of enemies over the years. Even though his sordid past contains no shortage of unfriendly faces, there is one he can’t quite place. A brutal new foe known only as Thumper. Who is this new menace that has the Merc With a Mouth so outmatched and outgunned? What is Deadpool’s past connection to this new baddie?
While an OGN by Liefeld is certainly notable so is the fact Marvel is putting out a graphic novel at all. The format isn’t too common for the publisher, but given the changes in reader preferences, it will be very interesting to see how it does. Previous OGNs by Jim Starlin tied to the Guardians of the Galaxy universe seemed to do okay, however.
And here’s your first look – and really, even for the haters, this looks nice!
