Dynamite has announced Repairman Jack: Scar-Lip Redux, a 120-page hardcover graphic novel featuring a new canon story for the universe. It is also the first graphic novel published within the franchise by a comic publisher.

The character’s creator, award-winning and New York Times bestselling author F. Paul Wilson will take on writing duties, and artist Antonio Fuso (Wyrd, GI Joe Cobra) will illustrate. Colorist Pippa Bowland and letterer Crank! round out the team.

A synopsis of the tale is below:

“Got a problem? He can fix it. He thought he’d seen the last of the Rakoshi, but one has survived. A particularly cunning and deadly Rakosh known to Jack as Scar-Lip. Now, Jack faces the fights of his life as he seeks to end the creature once and for all, before it ends him!”

Wilson said in a statement, “Love comics. My earliest reading materials were Vault of Horror and Uncle Scrooge. I became a Ditko fan with This Magazine Is Haunted. The visual medium is great for a sock in the gut in the final panel. I’ve always found the comics world easier to deal with than Hollywood.”

Wilson’s Repairman Jack first appeared in 1984’s The Tomb. Today, the character has been featured in more than 20 novels, and Wilson’s work has sold more than 8 million copies to date. As for comics, Dynamite and the author are a good match. Some of Wilson’s earliest work consisted of comic shorts published by Warren in Vampirella’s sister titles. Repairman Jack also fits right in with two other franchises published by Dynamite, though the character has his own unique appeal.

“Jack is a blue-collar hero,” Wilson explained. “That’s a big part of his appeal. Readers can imagine hanging at Julio’s and hoisting a few beers with him. Can you imagine that with James Bond or John Wick? Hell no.”

Repairman Jack: Scar-Lip Redux will be available for preorder in January. Let your favorite comic shop know you want your copy. The graphic novel is slated to release in March 2020. Fans can look for a limited edition signed version of the hardcover. For digital, head over to Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more.
