BOOM! Studios has announced that No One Escapes The Dialectic #1 sold out ahead of its November 4th release and will be receiving a second printing. No One Escapes The Dialectic is Award-winning reporter Spencer Ackerman’s first creator owned comic after previously writing Waller vs. Wildstorm for DC and Iron Man for Marvel. Ackerman is joined by Antonio Fuso (House of Slaughter) for this political thriller that Ackerman “expects to be controversial,” as stated in the book’s announcement.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning Ackerman takes on America’s current political climate through the lens of vigilante justice in this new series. “The world outside our window now shows us armed agents of the state kidnapping our neighbors, the installation of networked cameras nationwide, and the seizure of our resources to build and then militarize powerful AI systems,” said Ackerman. “This series is for everyone who wants their comics to address that world with the same urgency and intensity it’s forcing upon us.” Fuso also added, “Every week, something absurd and terrible happens in what we consider our ‘civilized’ world. We read a headline, shake our heads, and try to move on, increasingly worried and stressed. We feel helpless. Working on this comic was cathartic for me… I hope reading it will be for you too.”
When agents of the fearsome Special Naturalization Operations (SNO) become themselves hunted by a masked vigilante, a power struggle breaks out inside SNO between the Deep-State old guard and its death-squad vanguard, Gladio Unit!
Who is the masked vigilante calling themselves The Dialectic, posturing as a Marxist force of history? What is their relationship to their community’s liberation—and its violent suppression by SNO?
No One Escapes The Dialectic #1 released in comic shops November 4th, with the second printing available for preorder now. Ackerman and Fuso are also joined by colorist Brad Simpson, and letterer Jodie Troutman. Readers can also check out Ackerman’s director’s commentary for issue 1 at Forever Wars.
