After weeks of speculation based on cryptic social media posts, Netflix has finally offered Punisher fans a little taste of the upcoming season. In a teaser trailer for the streaming giant’s 2019 schedule that was posted on Wednesday, fans who held out until the very end (starting at about the 1:56 mark) got to see a familiar face: Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal).

In the 30-second clip, Frank gets in the battle van from season one, sets a handgun on top of an atlas and what looks like a tour guide for New York City, then seems to take a moment before turning the key in the ignition. Take a look:

The last time we saw Frank in season one, he had finally sought vengeance on those who were truly culpable for his family’s deaths — including his supposed best friend, Billy Russo (Ben Barnes). He embarked on a new path, starting with a visit to Curtis’ (Jason R. Moore) V.A. group, though this teaser suggests that he’s back in the fray. Given that Billy survived the first season and we’ve seen set photos of Barnes as Jigsaw, it’s safe to assume that Frank still has unfinished business.

Netflix’s trailer dropped one day after The Punisher social media team posted a season one screenshot of Frank and Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) captioned “On the road.” We still don’t know where Frank is going, but apparently we don’t have to wait long to find out.

The Punisher season two premieres in January 2019. Hopefully a full trailer and an exact release date will arrive soon.
