The Library of American Comics YouTube.jpeg

If you’re not impressed by the shelf porn shot from this brief video for the Library of American Comics you shouldn’t be reading this site. The row of Eisner Awards isn’t shabby, either. Editor Dean Mullaney’s long running archival project to capture the best American comic strips in a handsome, archival format has been running as an imprint of IDW since 2007 and includes runs of Little Orphan Annie, Terry and the pIrates, POlly and her Pals, Dick Tracy andother droolworthy (and still exciting) classic.

To promote the line they’ve made a brief video which you can watch below. According to the site:

It was a collaborative effort, art directed by Lorraine Turner (who also supplied some voice overs), with video editor Jason Buhrman, and additional voice overs by Clint McElroy.

We also want to give a shout-out to George Teichmann for his technical help, as well as his tireless efforts in migrating everything from the old LOAC website to this new and improved one.

The video is also available for retailers who want to include it as part of their in-store video loop.

  1. I hope ElfQuest will be included in that Library! 40 years of excellent storytelling that might not have made the Sunday funnies, but is still a crucial part of the Comic world.

  2. The Library of American Comics is the platinum standard in my mind for comic strip collections! I have most of them and they comprise a treasured part of my Library of Graphic Literature (which was featured twice in Robot 6’s “Shelf Porn”)!

If you’re into the Library of American Comics or any other collections of comic strips or books, then check out the Library of Graphic Literature page on Facebook! We post all the latest news about new collected editions of comic books and strips and it’s a great place to chat about the books you love…we, as a rule, don’t bother talking about books we don’t like and this leads to a more informative site for newcomers and advanced collectors!

    Viva the collected edition!!!
