Ahead of its big roll-out next month, we have your first look at the newest title in the Gerard Way-curated Young Animal imprint: Bug!: The Adventures of Forager, a six-issue mini helmed by the Allreds (written by Lee, pencilled and inked by Mike, colored by Laura) and pitched as an ode to the Kirby DC oeuvre from the Golden Age to the Fourth World, all from the perspective of the title character:
Forager is just one of the Hive before he breaks out of his cocoon and finds himself in a mysterious house in an unknown realm. There he meets all kinds of strange creatures: a ghostly girl, a talking teddy bear and otherworldly weirdos that have literally jumped out of his worst nightmares. But these interdimensional oddballs are nothing compared to the evil General Electric, who is on the hunt for a reality-bending metal that could alter the fabric of life itself. To stay one step ahead of him and preserve the multiverse, Forager must travel through alternate dimensions to seek the metal and, hopefully, catch up with that cagey stuffed bear. If he does it, will he finally be able to distinguish himself as a New God?
Ugh. He’s practically effeminate. And not funny, either.
Is that the way most guys under thirty talk and behave–practically indistinguishable from a teenage girl?
But then again, the ideal audience for this– women 12-30–may like their male characters a bit more androgynous. If he turns out to be gay, his mannerism will be less of an issue but as of now–because there is nothing else to focus on his mannerism stick out.
Well, i’ve always been interested in Forager.
But the dialogue for this seems to be kinda off. Not a fan of the character design for him as well.
