It’s been 60 years since Jonny Quest aired on television in 1964, but the 11-year-old is back again with a new story and new adventures. Dynamite has already shared with fans the prelude story on Free Comic Book Day and is getting fans hyped for the first issue, helmed by the best-selling writer Joe Casey, who worked on Adventures of Superman and created Ben 10 as part of the Man of Action Studios, and artist Sebastian Piriz who has worked on We Ride Titans.
The beloved Quest team, comprised of the eponymous hero, his scientist father Dr. Benton Quest, bodyguard “Race” Bannon, and adopted brother Hadji, returns in Jonny Quest #1 where the team returns to their home base in Palm Key to discover that “the once-familiar landscape is now strangely, disquietingly different!”
Created and designed by Doug Wildey and produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, Jonny Quest aired in 1964 for 26 episodes. Although it was a huge success and garnered positive critical acclaim, the show was ultimately cancelled after only one season due to high production costs. New episodes were produced for syndication in 1986 and a second series called The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest released in 1996.
Readers can check out the covers illustrated by Chad Hardin, Jae Lee & June Chung, Tom Raney, Bob Layton, and Richard Pace here:
