In a new reveal trailer, Starbreeze Studios introduced the second character for Overkill’s The Walking Dead, a four player cooperative first-person shooter game set in the comic book world of Robert Kirkman’s money making zombie machine. Late last year, the game was revealed with its first character, Washington DC survivor Aiden. The second of four all-new to The Walking Dead universe characters to be revealed is a young woman named Maya. In the trailer below, we even get a look at her tragic backstory.
The trailer doesn’t specifically state if she’s a doctor or a nurse. It’s a good opportunity for the developers to do something out of the norm with a female hospital character and make her a surgical resident who doesn’t play by the rules.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead will have players group into teams of four with each unique character they choose having specific roles to play for the team along with special abilities. The publishers and development teams are best known for the Payday series of games where players team up to execute bank heists without much narrative. OTWD looks to fix that as each of these characters will have different story arcs which play out through the game. With a scheduled Fall 2018 release date and the industry’s major trade show just around the corner, E3, Overkill’s The Walking Dead could reveal even more soon, including gameplay.
