§ Via IGN, Chris Condon and Jacob Phillips revealed the new That Texas Blood arc is being resolicited as a miniseries, That Texas Blood: Hell Comes to Allison Ranch. The first chapter, originally intended for release in June as issue #21 of the original series, will be released on September 23. The new arc will see Sheriff Joe Bob Coates investigating a feud at a wealthy family’s ranch in 2003, and the first issue will include “a new era-specific cartoon” by Matt Bors, a serialized interview with Spencer Ackerman, and a chat with Jim Mickle and E.L. Katz, the showrunners of the planned FX series.
§ Vault Comics and Vala Foundry will team up to crowdfund a Barbaric board game. Based on the comedic fantasy series by Michael Moreci and Nathan Gooden, Barbaric will allow you to play as six different characters, including series protagonist Owen the Barbarian. You can sign up to follow the project at Gamefound. The news comes shortly after Netflix confirmed a TV show of the comic is in the works.
§ A few days after Summer Game Fest, developer Floor 84 and publisher Mindscape announced the video game Dog Man: Bark in Action. A follow-up to their 2024 release Dog Man: Mission Impawsible, the game sees Dog Man and friends team up against the mind-controlling villain Dr. Scum. It will include 10 playable characters, six new worlds, and two-player local co-op. No street date was provided, but it’ll be released on the PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Xbox Series X/S sometime this fall.
§ The trailer for The Walking Dead: Dead City season three, the latest chapter of the Negan and Maggie spin-off set in New York, was released. The season sees the pair “finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse, but when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city?” It will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Sunday, July 26.
§ Warner Bros. dropped another trailer for the new animated Cat in the Hat feature, starring Bill Hader as Dr. Seuss‘s beloved character. The movie will be released in theaters on November 4.
§ Adult Swim released an updated intro for My Adventures with Superman season three, adding Superboy, Supergirl, and the show’s latest villains, including a bald Lex Luthor, Cyborg Superman, and Lobo. The new season will premiere on the Toonami block and HBO Max at midnight on Saturday, June 13 (technically Sunday).
§ Speaking of Adult Swim, Deadline reports Titus Welliver (Bosch), Alison Pill (Scott Pilgrim) and Justin Kirk (Weeds) have joined the cast of Get Jiro. The culinary action cartoon, starring Brian Tee (Chicago Med), and based on the Vertigo Comics series by Anthony Bourdain, Joel Rose, Langdon Foss and Alé Garza, will premiere on AS later this year.
§ Finally, Naoki Urasawa teamed up with Mexican music artists Rodrigo y Gabriela on the video for “Monster,” a song inspired by his manga of the same name. The video features a timelapse of Urasawa drawing the single’s artwork. The track will be included on Rodrigo y Gabriela’s next album, OurHome, due out September 18. Urasawa’s Monster, which told the story of the relationship between a surgeon and a serial killer, ran from 1994 to 2001, and is available in English courtesy of Viz Media.
