Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora are having a good month. Gillen, already a fan-favorite writer from his work on creator-owned series like The Wicked + The Divine and Die, just returned to Marvel with the high-profile launch of a new Eternals ongoing series illustrated by Esad Ribic. Meanwhile, Mora is making a big splash at DC Comics with Future State: Dark Detective and an upcoming run on Detective Comics, both with writer Mariko Tamaki. And then there’s Once & Future, the BOOM! Studios series the writer and artist launched, along with colorist Tamra Bonvillain and letterer Ed Dukeshire, back in 2019. Originally announced as a miniseries, the fantasy-adventure series was made ongoing after the first issue went to multiple printings, and the quality of the title has certainly borne out that sales success. With the title’s third storyline underway, the series continues to expand on its mythology in an interesting and exciting way.
