Z2 Comics continues to unite the best parts of music and comics with its NYCC ’19 schedule. The New York based publisher revealed on Tuesday that Skillet (yes, that Skillet) will be making an appearance this year along with the comics writer whose name is synonymous with metal, Jason Aaron.
Z2 is collaborating with Forbidden Planet NYC to organize a signing for Skillet’s first-ever graphic novel. Even if you forgot to snag up your NYCC badges this year – fear not – this event is open to everyone for that exact reason. Anyone who wants to meet the band, and get their copy of EDEN: A Skillet Graphic Novel signed, need only RSVP here. Notably, though, Skillet won’t be signing in the con itself. While they’re at NYCC, they’ll be busy conducting an interview on the SyFy Wire Live Stage with the band’s lead singer and comic co-writer John Cooper. That interview begins on Friday at 12:15 (and is also available to stream), then the band will head over to Forbidden Planet NYC (832 Broadway) from 4-6pm.
From there, Z2 Comics’ NYCC schedule switches from a music focus to comics as Jason Aaron takes the stage. On Saturday at 11:15am, the Thor and Southern Bastards writer will take over the SyFy stage to announce and discuss his first Z2 project in a half hour long interview. Then, later on that night, Aaron will return with Ryan Cady (Genesis One: A Poppy Graphic Novel), Chris Miskiwiecz and Noah Van Sciver (Grateful Dead Origins) and Z2’s Josh Frankel and Sridhar Reddy for the publisher’s official panel at 7:45pm in room 1A24.
Z2 Comics was founded in 2012 on three driving tenets: be moral, be profitable and make good work. Seven years later, that takes the form of combining the best aspects of comics and music; two mediums that founders Frankel and Reddy love deeply. Together, the team has published a range of graphic albums, in collaboration with musicians and comics creators alike.
