Besides their convention booth, Spanish inquisition artists Francis Portela (Black Panther) and Juan Santacruz (Marvel Adventures: The Avengers) will be signing today at Jim Hanleys.

Jim Hanley’s Universe, a New York City based comic store chain, is proud to announce its expanded particiaption at the New York Comic Con, which is back for its second annual event. As a result, the store will be holding a sale at both its booth and at its two locations in Manhatten and Staten Island. The Manhatten store will be hosting creator appearances as well.

Jim Hanley’s Universe will be in a new, bigger location than last year (Booth #671) and plans on using the space as a mini-store.

“We were pleased with our results from last year,” said Store Manager, Vito Delsante, “but we felt that with a bigger space, we could expand on what we had last year, and bring more of what our customers have come to expect; a full line of independently published graphic novels sitting side-by-side with mainstream titles fans know and love.” In addition, the store will be the official retailer of Batman, Superman and Vertigo titles at the convention. “DC has made their product more retailer friendly by offering us this deal,” said Director of Operations, Nick Purpura, “which helps us to further provide a ‘one stop shop’ for every attendee’s tastes. This deal with DC and Vertigo is a huge step for us as a presence at the convention.”

To further entice customers into their booth (and into their regular locations), Hanley’s will be offering a 25% Off Everything In The Universe Sale for the days of the convention (February 23-25th).

And leading up to the convention, Jim Hanley’s Universe will be hosting two events; first, in a return engagement from last year, the store welcomes “The Spanish Inquisition,” a group of artists based in Spain. This years guests include Francis Portela (Black Panther) and Juan Santacruz (Marvel Adventures: The Avengers). The Inquisition will be appearing on Wednesday, February 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. On the following day, the store will welcome new Wolverine artist, Simone Bianchi. Bianchi made a splash collaborating with writer, Grant Morrison, on Seven Soldiers: The Shining Knight. He will be signing on Thursday, February 22nd, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. It will be his first appearance in the store.

“And we’re working on providing more in-store events as we speak,” said Delsante, who functions as the store’s Events Coordinator. “We will send out the information as we get it. We’re very excited for the convention and we are looking to share that with our customers and comics fans from around the world!”
