It’s been five years since Daft Punk did it harder, better, faster, and stronger than everyone else in electronic music. Seems they were human after all. Now for one more time, fans can get lucky and experience their technologic brilliance in a new way.
Launched in the U.S. by Humanoids in 2025, Metal Hurlant, the legendary quarterly comics and science fiction anthology, has announced its very first special issue, devoted to Daft Punk.
This authorized, 272-page special issue will be released in early 2027 and features the work of more than 30 creators, including Laura Pérez, Malachi Ward, Jonathan Djob
Nkondo, and European comic book superstar Zep, alongside two rock-infused archival stories from masters Mœbius and Philippe Druillet—all punctuated by a slew of articles unpacking the lore, technology, and revolution of Daft Punk and their contemporaries.
Each comic book short story alchemizes a fragment of time in the duo’s narrative sometimes directly, sometimes through metaphor.

This special issue is available for preorder starting today from the publisher’s website. An exclusive edition featuring a cover by Daft Punk’s longtime collaborators Cedric Hervet and Warren Fu, the pair behind the cover art and illustrations for Random Access Memories, is available only by preorder.
Also exclusive to preorders: the chance to be part of the “Concert That Never Happened.” Eighty VIP seats are offered to fans and readers, who will have their faces drawn by artist Florian Breuil and their names printed in a double-page spread appearing in every copy of the special issue.

Thankfully they aren’t including a CD.
