During its Friday panel at New York Comic Con, DC announced that Aquaman will headline his first comic in four years starting in January 2025. Written by Jeremy Adams and drawn by John Timms, the upcoming series will feature Arthur Curry with a brand new powerset in the wake of Absolute Power, which impacted the superpowers of several heroes in the DCU.
Based on the art alone, it seems like water manipulation may be in play, even if it isn’t the full scope of Arthur’s new abilities. The solicit text below doesn’t give anything away:
In the wake of Absolute Power, Arthur Curry’s powers have evolved to powerful new heights, and this is one king ready to use them to kick some serious butt. Mammoth water-construct Kaijus have emerged from each of the seven seas, and only Aquaman’s water-warping abilities can stop them—but not if they kill the good king in the process! Enter Dagon, Arthur’s guide on the quest to unlock the secrets of the “blue.” But what deadly secret awaits Arthur on his journey? It’s an all-new era for Aquaman by acclaimed creators Jeremy Adams (The Flash, Green Lantern) and John Timms (Action Comics) that will leave you cheering!
In addition to interior and main cover art by Timms, Aquaman #1 will feature variants by Ivan Reis, Brad Walker, Tula Lotay, Salvador Larroca, and Christian Ward.
Aquaman #1 will be available at your local comic shop and digitally on January 8, 2025.
