It feels like San Diego Comic Con was only yesterday, but as the rugged folks up north in a certain non-specific fantasy television property like to say, “New York Comic Con is coming.” We’re excited to announce that at the convention next week, Oni Press will be giving away a free ashcan teaser comic featuring a story from MOTRO, a new creator-owned series co-written by Ulises Fariñas and Erick Freitas featuring art by Fariñas.
MOTRO tells the story of a young boy blessed with great strength whose dead father has sent him on a quest to defend people…except the folks he tries to protect aren’t enthralled by his presence. It’s like an icy version of Disney’s Hercules meeting Mad Max! Fariñas, best known for his work on IDW’s Judge Dredd and his Buño comics imprint, will be on hand to sign the comic on Friday and Saturday. For more information and an exclusive preview of the NYCC ashcan, read on!
Land of Snow ashcans, a teaser mini-comic of Ulises Fariñas’ newest creator-owned series, MOTRO, will be available for free exclusively at Oni Press booth #1829 at New York Comic Con, October 6–9, 2016. Creator Ulises Fariñas will be signing these ashcans at the Oni Press booth on Friday, October 7, at 6–7 p.m. and Saturday, October 8, at 6–7 p.m.MOTRO #1(W) Ulises Fariñas with Erick Freitas(A/CA) Ulises Fariñas(C) Ryan HillFinal order cutoff: 10/10/2016On sale date: 11/2/2016Genre: Action, Adventure32 pages
A reclusive young boy with superhuman strength follows a prophecy from his dead father on a mission to save people, but when he finds the area villagers are less than thrilled by his noble intentions and he faces adversaries both human and magical-mechanical, what will it take to fulfill his destiny? Can his miniature talking motorcycle help? From illustrator and intricate world-builder Ulises Fariñas (IDW’s Judge Dredd), comes the first story in the life and legend of a fantasy hero for the ages.
